DIXON ROTARY FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT
The Dixon Rotary Foundation shall be the resource of the Rotary Club of Dixon to receive charitable gifts, from both members and non-members, and to make grants from those gifts to appropriate organizations or activities.

ORGANIZED
The Dixon Rotary Foundation, a publicly supported organization, founded in 2010 by the Rotary Club of Dixon, and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Sections 501 (c) (3) and 509 (a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (or the corresponding revisions of any future United States Internal Revenue Law). It is located in Dixon, Solano County, California.

PURPOSE
The Dixon Rotary Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation organized to receive gifts and make grants for charitable purposes that benefit our community. Donations focus on youth, education, with an emphasis on the community of Dixon first.

GOVERNANCE
Trustees govern the Dixon Rotary Foundation. The Trustees are elected by the members in good standing of Rotary Club of Dixon. The current club President, President-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary serve as designated trustees.

OBJECTIVES
1. To accept any gifts of money, other property, or the income there from on such terms and conditions, as it deems advisable for the general objectives of the Dixon Rotary Foundation; or, for such uses as may be prescribed by the donor that conform to the general objectives of the Dixon Rotary Foundation.
2. To receive from the Rotary Club of Dixon, funds designated by it’s Board of Directors, by resolution, for use by the Dixon Rotary Foundation.
3. To hold, manage, invest and reinvest, and administer all property of the Dixon Rotary Foundation as provided by the By-Laws or by the terms of the gift or bequest.

BENEFICIARIES
Dixon Rotary Foundation grants are for charitable, philanthropic, public good, community, youth and educational purposes with particular emphasis on the community of Dixon based institutions or organizations that promote the welfare of the Dixon Community, or programs sponsored or endorsed by Rotary International or the Rotary Foundation.

CONTRIBUTIONS WELCOMED
While contributions in any amount are welcomed, the Dixon Rotary Foundation particularly encourages larger gifts that are ordinarily made by way of estate planning strategies. These include, but are not limited to:

1. Residential and commercial real estate through bequest, trust, or life estate arrangement.
2. Appreciated securities with resultant tax advantages for the donor.
3. Life Insurance policies, naming the Dixon Rotary Foundation.
4. Beneficiary designation from the donor’s retirement account(s).
Any and all such gifts may be named to give honor or recognition to a special person, donor, organization, or business entity in perpetuity.

GIFT DESIGNATION POSSIBILITIES
The income from gifts will be used in keeping with desires as indicated at the time of the gift, subject to the purpose, governance, and objectives of the Dixon Rotary Foundation.

DONOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT
In the case of Memorial Donations, both donor and the family of the person memorialized will be acknowledged. In the case of all other donations, the donor will be acknowledged.

Q: ARE MY GIFTS TO THE DIXON ROTARY FOUNDATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
A. Yes! The Dixon Rotary Foundation is a certified 501 (c) (3) trust. I.R.S. and Franchise Tax Board approval letters are available!

Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS FOUNDATION AND THE ROTARY FOUNDATION (OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL)?
A. The Dixon Rotary Foundation is based right here in Dixon and guided by Trustees/members of the Rotary Club of Dixon for the benefit of Dixon, in keeping with the Objectives of the Dixon Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation is directed and guided by the Secretariat of Rotary International at the organization’s headquarters in Evanston, IL. Their funds are expended primarily for worldwide oriented longer term projects.
